Driblab analyzes the Champions League quarter-finals on Televisión Española (TVE)

We collaborate with TVE to analyse the preview of the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

What are the chances of each Spanish team to qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League, which players are the most dangerous according to the advanced statistics, which goalkeepers are preventing more goals for their team and are therefore being more decisive? All these questions are answered through data.

Televisión Española (TVE) and Driblab have collaborated to offer a detailed preview analysis of the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, the final of which will be shown on public television. Thanks to our advanced statistical and probability models, we generated several valuable graphics to accompany the content, showing the many possibilities that statistics have to make journalistic content for the media.

Our CEO, Salvador Carmona went into depth about our probability and performance models, with which we try to weight the maximum possible game situations: the Expected Goals model (xG), the Expected Threat model (xT) or the PPDA model (Passes per Defensive Action), to find out which teams are pressing more in this Champions League or the variables we use to measure merit and competitiveness.
